Standard Process of Paver Block Installation
Proper installation of paver blocks is essential for durability, strength, and long-term performance. Below is a step-by-step guide commonly followed by professionals to ensure a strong and visually appealing finish:
Site Planning & Layout
The process starts with measuring the area, designing the layout, and selecting the right type and pattern of pavers based on the intended use — such as for driveways, walkways, gardens, or patios.
1
Planing GuideGround Excavation & Base Preparation
The area is excavated to the required depth. A compacted layer of stone dust or fine crushed material is spread to form a stable and level bedding base for the pavers.
2
Planing GuideEdge Restraints Installation
Edge restraints are set along the perimeter to prevent lateral shifting of the paver blocks. These can be made of concrete, bricks, or prefabricated edging materials.
3
Planing GuideLaying of Paver Blocks
Paver blocks are laid according to the planned pattern, starting from one corner or straight edge. Each block is placed snugly next to the other and gently tapped into place using a rubber mallet.
4
Planing GuideJoint Sand Filling
Dry fine sand is spread evenly across the surface and swept into the joints between the paver blocks. This locks the blocks together and helps prevent movement.
5
Planing GuideSurface Compaction (Optional )
A plate compactor may be used to settle the blocks into the bedding and compress the joint sand further. This step improves interlocking and surface evenness, especially in high-traffic areas.
6
Planing GuideConcrete Edge Locking (Haunching)
To provide long-term stability, a 1-foot-wide concrete haunch is cast along the outer boundary of the paved area. This acts as a structural lock and prevents the blocks from shifting outward due to load or usage.

Planing GuideAdditional Tips:
- Always maintain a gentle slope for water drainage.
- Choose block thickness and base depth as per usage load (60mm,medium Duty / 80 mm,heavy duty).
- Use quality materials and experienced labor to ensure long-lasting results.
